Produced from October 1958 to June 1963, the DB4 evolved through five series, though Aston Martin didn’t originally designate them as such. The nomenclature was later suggested by the Aston Martin Owners Club for easier model identification.
The first series already saw several improvements, including heavy-duty bumpers added after the initial 50 cars, preceding the second series in January 1960. Series 2 introduced a front-hinged bonnet, larger brake callipers, and an enlarged sump.
In 1961, Series 3 showcased separate rear lights, two bonnet stays, and various interior enhancements. Following that, from September 1961 to October 1962, Series 4 had a shallower bonnet intake, recessed rear lights, and a new grille with seven vertical bars.
The last iteration, Series 5, received a 3½” length extension, reaching 15′, providing more legroom and a larger boot. It also featured 15″ wheels, an electric radiator fan, and the DB4 GT-type instrument panel.
