1968 Toyota Corona

Toyota Motor Company, founded in 1937, introduced its very first car, the Model AA, in the same year. Toyota entered the US market in 1958 with the Toyopet, but unfortunately, this model faced failure. However, Toyota’s fortunes changed with the introduction of the Land Cruiser and, in 1965, the Corona, setting the stage for their current dominance.

The Corona, characterized by its stylish design and offered in various configurations, could be paired with either the ‘Toyoglide’ two-speed automatic or a three- and later four-speed manual transmission. Offering more value than a Volkswagen for only a slightly higher price, the Corona became a massive success and a sensation in sales. Its triumph and fashionable appeal marked it as one of the most significant early Japanese cars to make an impact in the US. Among them, the two-door Hardtop model stands out for its exceptional style and design.
